The E30 community is in dire need of a high quality, practical, period correct looking, and budget friendly armrest. We've allocated all of our resources to finally end the era of expensive Husco armrests and give you a great aftermarket alternative for a starting price of around $300 CAD. We plan to have a market ready version available for summer of 2025.

Thanks to your feedback in the ongoing armrest survey, we have collected the following criteria for the upcoming E30 armrest:

• We will offer it for an entry price of between $200-300 CAD, with optional add on options bringing the cost up to no more than $600 CAD.
• We will offer a storage cubby for an additional cost with options for wireless charging and standard quick charge USB Type A & C charging ports inside.
• The armrest will be height and forward/backward adjustable. It will also be able to rotate up and out of the way when not in use.
• The armrest will come with an optional cup holder (we are still trying to figure out if the cupholder will be optional or whether it will be mandatory for mounting).
• We will avoid the need for drilling holes into your center console to mount the armrest.
• The most popular cover options were: black leather, black vinyl, cardinal red leather, natur beige leather, indigo/pacific leather, silver leather, anthracite cloth, and alcantara/suede. We may decide to expand our initial offering of cover options (so don't panic if you don't see yours above), but these options listed will all likely be offered upon launch. 
• Many of you would be open to purchasing an armrest kit to assemble yourselves for a lesser price. We will be offering both a kit version and a fully assembled version.
• The armrests will be made out of a variety of materials: 3D printed parts, aluminum, in-house formed foam, bolts and other hardware, and potentially some machined parts.

We've been hard at work designing our upcoming armrest. We've finalized initial versions for the following components:

• Mounting configuration: the armrests will be securely mounted to the center console and the attachment points at the e-brake. No drilling of your center consoles will be required at this point.
• Storage cubby: our storage cubby will be an added cost option that will come equipped with a divider for items stored within and insert plates to ease any necessary cleaning. The cubbies will also have options for built in USB charging ports for an additional cost.
• Armrest cover options: The 4 most popular options that you all chose in our survey were: Black Leather, Black Vinyl, Natur Leather, and Anthracite Cloth. Please see the survey results below:

If your desired cover isn't one of the top 4, don't worry - we are still planning to allow you to order your armrest with your desired cover by joining a waiting list. You would leave a deposit upon your initial order, and once we've received at least 10 orders of that given armrest cover material, the remaining balance of your order will be due and we will ship your order once that remaining balance has been paid.

• Compatibility: Although 85% of survey participants said they have a standard storage pocket style center console, we've decided that we will be making the armrest compatible with the cassette holder style consoles as well. Our updated cassette style cup holders (announced at the top of this email) are going to play a role in accomplishing this, hence why we decided to make the changes to the cup holder now.

We are just about finished with the initial design of the armrest and we'll soon be making the first real life prototype to test out functionality. We'll share some more updates when that time comes. We're still a few months out from release, so we appreciate you all staying tuned and keen to get your hands on your very own armrest from us.

After nearly finishing the design for the center console style armrest, we determined that it would not meet what you all were after. The center consoles in these cars are flimsy and difficult to mount anything to. We ran into many issues while trying to come up with a strong enough design for mounting it to the center console. Additionally, our survey results have told us that the majority of you want the armrest to cost between $200-300 CAD. Lastly, there were struggles around implementing forward, backward, and height adjustment to fit each unique driver. This just wasn't going to be possible to give you the armrest that you wanted to see with a center console mounting configuration.

So - we made a significant pivot. We started again from scratch and designed the armrest to mount to your seat instead. The benefits of this are as follows:

• A seat mounted armrest moves with the seat position and backrest angle.
• The armrest can be neatly rotated out of the way when not in use.
• The armrest is easily mounted to either comfort or sport seats. Only one hole needs to be drilled in the seat frame, fabric, and seat backing on sport seats. This is far less intrusive than what we had planned for mounting the center console style armrest.
• We will be able to hit the targeted price point between $200-300 CAD for a single seat. A set of two armrests for both seats will also be available for purchase. 
• We will be offering the armrest with the following cover options, with as close of a match to the factory colours as we can get: 
  • Black Leather / Vinyl
  • Cardinal Red Leather / Vinyl 
  • Perlbeige Leather / Vinyl / Cloth 
  • Natur Leather / Vinyl / Cloth
  • Pacific Blue Leather / Vinyl / Cloth
  • Indigo Blue Leather / Vinyl / Cloth
  • Silver Leather / Vinyl / Cloth
  • Anthracite Cloth
• A storage cubby option will not be available upon launch. We will likely make this an added cost option at a later date with the ability to upgrade to the storage cubby version for those who purchased earlier versions without it. The survey results told us that a storage cubby wasn't that necessary.
• Cupholders will not be integrated into this armrest. We currently sell a very practical cupholder that fits both standard and cassette style center consoles. Our cupholders will be accessible while using our armrests. If you want to purchase our armrest and you also want a cupholder, please reach out to us and we'll provide you with a discount code.
